I have a HP Office Jet Pro 8035e that at home is wireless and connected to our WiFi. However, we are in an RV and I would like to print directly from my computer via USB ports. How do I tell the printer to accept the USB info?

Welcome to the HP User Community.
Consider using Wi-Fi Direct.
What?
Wi-Fi Direct is wireless service between your printer and your computer / device without the need or use of a router.
Open / Read
Go to Page 36
and
Wireless printing center > Printer Setup > Wi-Fi Direct

Product Specifications for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e All-in-One Printer (1L0H6A)
Yes, printer supports USB printing - connect a USB cable between the printer and the computer.
I've read that HP Smart at least might work with a USB connection - that said, certainly some parts of HP Smart would not work and the application might have trouble even signing in (which would also keep it from working correctly).
What about the printer software and USB?
Not sure.
If not already done,
You might be able to install the full driver if you can first download and save the installation package.
USB cable should be disconnected before installing the software.
Connect the cable only when instructed, near the end of the procedure.

Note
If you already have the full driver printer software installed in Programs and Features,
There is likely no reason to uninstall / reload the software.

Caveats to using local USB or Wi-Fi Direct as opposed to standard Wireless
USB or Wi-Fi Direct do not connect your printer to the Internet.
1. IF you have enabled HP+ on your printer, know that the printer must be connected to the HP+ service to continue printing.
HP+ not enabled? Ignore.
2. IF you have an Instant Ink subscription, know that the printer will not be able to communicate with the Instant Ink service. Printing will continue for a time. If you expect to be out-of-contact for a longer period (three weeks or more?), do contact HP Instant Ink Support and ask about options.
