Hi @Marco204,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reset the password on your HP LaserJet MFP 183fw printer, you can follow these steps:
Access the EWS (Embedded Web Server):
- Open a web browser on a computer or device connected to the same network as your printer.
- Enter the printer's IP address in the browser's address bar and press Enter. If you don't know the IP address, you can print a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel to find it.
Log in to the EWS:
- When the EWS page opens, click on the "Sign In" or "Log In" option. If you haven't set a password before, try leaving the password field blank and clicking "Sign In" or use the default password if it hasn't been changed (common default passwords are admin/admin, admin/password, or similar).
Reset the Password:
- Once logged in (or if no password was set initially), navigate to the security or settings section.
- Look for an option to change the password or reset it to a new one.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set a new password. Make sure to choose a strong password that you can remember.
Save Changes:
- After setting the new password, save the changes. The printer's web interface might require you to confirm the new password.
Test the New Password:
- Log out of the EWS and then log back in using the new password to ensure it works correctly.
If you encounter any issues during this process or cannot access the EWS due to a forgotten password and the default password doesn’t work, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. Be aware that a factory reset will erase all settings on the printer, including network settings, so you will need to set it up again from scratch.
To perform a factory reset:
- Locate the reset button on your printer (usually found on the back or side of the printer).
- Press and hold the reset button for about 10-15 seconds until the printer restarts and begins the reset process.
- Once reset, the printer will revert to its factory settings, including any passwords.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
