i am able to print from google chrome and my mobile phone so it is not the printer. It shows that my printer is connected under printer devices settings.

Hey @MorganB22,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you are having some issues with printing from Internet Explorer. I can help you with that, however I am going to need to know which printer you have as well as which version of Windows you are running. Once I know that I will be better able to assist you.

Alright, to sort this out:
- If the printer is connected through a USB cable to your PC, remove it.
- Close all programs you have open.
- In your search bar type in Printers and open Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on any icons of your printer listed.
- Click on Remove Device.
- Repeat for any other icons of your printer listed.
- If you removed the USB cable, connect it. If not, click on Add Printer to add a new queue for your printer.
Please let me know if you are able to print after following the above. If you are, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

That should have stopped that. To try something a different way, can you try printing from Fire Fox or Chrome as well as a non-browsing program and see if you have the same issue?

Internet Explorer does not work very well for printing in Windows 10. For PDF files, I would try printing them from another program to see if you still have the same issue.
