HI @John5167,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're receiving a "printer is busy" message when trying to print remotely, it typically indicates that the printer is currently processing another print job or is unable to accept new print requests at that moment. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Status
Physical Check: If possible, go to the location of the printer and check if there are any physical issues such as paper jams, low ink or toner, or error messages on the printer display.
Printer Queue: On the computer connected to the printer (or using the printer’s management software), check the print queue to see if there are any pending print jobs. Cancel or pause unnecessary print jobs to free up the printer.
2. Restart Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer by unplugging it from the power source. Wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and power it on. This can reset the printer and clear any temporary issues causing it to be busy.
3. Check Network Connection
Wi-Fi or Ethernet: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network and that the network connection is stable. A weak or intermittent connection can cause communication issues.
Restart Router: If other devices on the network are also experiencing connectivity issues, restart your Wi-Fi router or access point to refresh the network connection.
4. Print Queue Management
- Clear Print Queue: On the computer from which you are sending print jobs, clear the print queue to remove any stuck or pending print jobs that might be causing the printer to appear busy.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Updates: Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Install any updates to ensure compatibility and stability.
6. Printer Software
- Driver Update: Ensure that the printer driver on your computer is up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication issues between the computer and printer.
7. Verify Printer Configuration
- Default Printer: Make sure the printer you are trying to print to is set as the default printer on your computer. Sometimes, print jobs may be sent to a different printer if settings are not configured correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
