HP ENVY 5030
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

A random stranger just printed to my HP ENVY5030.  The printer screen showed, connecting to a mobile device. I texted the person (who's phone no. was on the printed document), who said they were sending a rapid test (?) and did not try to print but just saved it as a PDF in their files and has no idea how my home printer is connected.  No one has my wifi password. How do I secure my printer and how was this even able to happen?

@sallyprince, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Make sure the printer is on a secured network.

Only the devices on that network will be able to communicate with the printer.

Also, check if wifi-direct is off

On the printer screen, go to Wireless > Wifi direct > Turn it off (this is required only when you do not have a wireless router)

If you have enabled ePrint service on the printer and if you have given the printer's email address to someone, only then they can send an email to the printer to get a job printed.

For more info on ePrint, refer to this document - Print with HP ePrint

To disable this feature, turn off web services on the printer. If the printer is enrolled in Instant Ink, do not proceed with this step.

Click here to know how to turn off web services.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
