Hi! @181fw, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you would like to know how to change the wireless password on your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Are you trying to reset the password for the wireless network or for the printer?

Please share a picture of the error you receive on your printer to assist you better.

Splendid analysis and remarkable patience shown. It is immensely appreciated.

If you are trying to reset the password on your printer try the steps recommended below.

Try restoring the printer settings to default and check if it helps.

1. On the printer control panel, press the Setup button.
2. Open the Service menu.
3. Select Restore Defaults.
The printer automatically restarts.

Also, if you have issues connecting your printer to the network try connecting your printer to the wireless network using wireless setup wizard.

Connect the printer to the wireless network

If your printer has a basic control panel (no touchscreen or text navigation), or the Wireless Setup Wizard method did not work, try using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to connect the printer.

   NOTE:

Both your printer and wireless router must support the WPS push button or PIN connection types. Consult your printer and wireless router manuals to confirm the support.

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button  for two or more seconds, and then release the button when the wireless light starts blinking.

  2. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your wireless router.

  3. Wait up to two minutes while the printer automatically establishes a network connection with the wireless network.
