Hi,
We are successful in connecting our Surface Pro 3's running Windows 10 on a HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer series using Wi-Fi Direct not Wireless. The issue is that everytime we turn off the printer or goes to sleep the Surface pro cannot re esatablish connection with the printer after turning it back on. In the Device and Printers the OfficeJet 200 is still there but greyed out and has a status of being offline even though the printer has been on for a while.
The only way to connect it is to do the whole process of reconnecting to the Wi-Fi direct e.g typing in the code and wait to see of the device is connected. Should it not that this printer establish connection with the surface pro automatically once its powered on, and I know I had the Wi-Fi direct set to establish connection automatically and yet the Surface pro shows that the printer is offline. Is there any solution for this.
The issue only occurs when the printer shuts off and we have to shut it off to conserve battery because we take them out for field work.

We found out that the Wi-Fi Direct is not fully supported in Windows 10. The only way you can reconnect to Wi-Fi direct is if you connect to the Printer like you are connecting to a Wi-Fi access point. If you do that then your Wi-Fi direct printer connection will be reestablished. The downside is that your Surface Pro 3 will lose internet connection.
For us our solution is don't use Wi-Fi direct and use the Wi-Fi feature. We connected the HP OfficeJet 200 mobile series to our iPhone hot spot and we also connected the Surface Pro to the iPhone hot spot. Everytime we connect our tablet to the hot spot we can use the printer because the printer is always connected to the hot spot.

Hey AgISA,
I understand you are trying to establish an automatic connection from your computer to your Mobile printer. I see you have selected to automatically connect to the network but when your printer goes to sleep or is turned off, the computer does not automatically reconnect when the printer is turned back on. From what I could see in the user manual, Automatic and Manual are options available when setting the Wi-Fi Direct up for use with a mobile device. I don't see this listed as an option for printing a Windows or Mac device. Although the Surface Pro is a mobile device, since it runs Windows, perhaps the auto connect is not an option.
If the Wi-Fi Direct continues to be problematic, take a look at the following troubleshooting wizard: Wi-Fi Direct Help and Troubleshooting for the HP OfficeJet 200 Mobile Printer.
I hope this helps.
