I have been unable to connect to HP Printer low ink status Notifications received on my Android Mobil Phone (6.01). When I try to download the HP Smart app, it says "my device is incompatible."  I am on the same wifi network as my HP 8720 printer, and am able to print from my mobile phone using the HP Printer Plugin app.  I also receive "low ink status" notifications to my phone, but when I click to open the notification, it just shows "connection failed."  Isn't there some way to see the ink status through my phone being that I am on the same network as the printer which shows the status on the printer screen?

@RPL44, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

HP Smart is compatible only with mobile devices running Android OS 7.0 (Nougat) or later. Kindly update your mobile software.

Using this app, you will be able to check the ink levels, print and scan.

For more info, refer to this document. 

HP Print Service Plugin does not have this option to check the ink levels.
