Tango
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I went through the setup process for Tango to be connected to my network. My IPad and apple phones all connect through the network and printing great. Cannot connect my MacBook Air, as in using the HP Smart app it asks me to connect the laptop with the printer using a USB cable, but the laptop does not have a port. Is there a work around for the Tango and MacBook can "pair" or "see/recognize" each other?

Hi @AWS55,

I'd like to help!

To assist better-

  1.  I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
  2. What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
  3. Are you trying to connect your printer to your home network, public network, or without a router?
  4.  Are the printer and Mac connected to the same network?
  5.  What is the distance between the router and the printer?
  6. Is there any antivirus software installed on your Mac?

Try the steps in the document to connect the printer - No Connection after Router or Wi-Fi Settings Change

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

1- 2.4 GHz network

2-Steady light- works fine w/ iPhone and ipads

3-trying to connect w/ home network

4-Both connected to same network, but cannot see each other

5-30 feet, but same when we use phone or tablets and they will print.

I do not have a USB outlet on my MacBook Air, and do not want to buy cable adapters to get a direct connection if I do not have to...

Thanks, Bill

Oh, and I so have Symantic endpoint protection that I use when I use Microsoft remote access.

Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results? Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.

The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera. Share the ping test results and the screenshot with us.

Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.  Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.
