Hi @jboss2

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Resetting the printer to its factory settings may help.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have the same problem!

I was printing and needed to replace the ink. I opened the door and replaced the black ink cartridge like normal. Closed the door and now I have a message when I try to print saying "door is open."

The door is not open! I have tried all the suggested fixes and nothing is working. I've only had the printer for 18 months. This should not be falling apart now!

Please help!

@angelica-12

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Are you using the HP Envy 4500 printer?

Please ensure the printer has the latest Firmware. You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

If the issue persists, we will attempt a Semi full Reset. I have sent the instructions to your Inbox

Please check your private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile.

Next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope

The problem was solved using the suggested procedure -- with the printer turned on, unplug the power cord at the printer and also at the wall socket; then plug the power cord back.

I had this same problem and tried all the suggested ideas with no success.  I finally popped out the ink cartridges and reinserted them. That seemed to clear the message. Good luck

I have a brand new HP Deskjet 2630 - I've replaced the cartridges that came with it and cannot get rid of the Door Open mesasge.

I have;

turned it on and off and waitied - three times

disconnected the power supply, waited 1 minute and started again - three times

removed the ink cartridges and replaced them

closed the door and shut it several times

lost my patience and swore a lot

My SmartApp is saying there isn't an issue and I'm ready to print - it lies...

I AM NOT IMPRESSED WITH MY FIRST HP PRINTER AND IF THIS IS NORMAL THEN I WANT MY MONEY BACK PLUS THE MONEY FOR THE NEW INKS

I solved the issue by uninstalling the printer driver and reinstalling it.
