It's definitely Logitech C9xx webcam hardware.
not sure if there's some correlation between underlying age/firmware, etc.
The only thing that's worked for me so far to get both the camera AND microphone working is to change the driver that the webcam uses to "Generic USB Device (OEM)" from "Generic USB Device"
unfortunately this doesn't always last forever, and is often overwritten if the laptop is undocked/redocked.
I'll have a client machine on my workbench with this issue sometime within the next week or so, so I'll be able to poke at it directly without being time-crunched for bandaids.

So I finally resolved the issue on my device (HP EliteBook 860 G9) I saw a few folks had attempted Resetting their PC with a fresh Windows install with no success resolving the issue, so I deduced that this is likely not a Windows OS issue. So, I took it a step further based on this and performed the following:
1.) Created a Windows 11 Installation Media on a USB
2.) Removed the SSD from my laptop and connected it to a spare PC I have.
3.) Wiped the entire SSD - including all Recovery & EFI System recovery partitions.
Note - Windows Disk Management isn't great at this task, so i used EaseUS Partition Master.
4.) Reinstalled the SSD back into my laptop and booted up from Windows Media Tool USB.
5.) I went through all the normal Windows setup and as soon as I was logged in, I disabled Windows Updates from installing any drivers ( I wanted to manage this manually to see if i could capture the culprit for the issue).
Link to disabling in driver updates in GPO here: https://www.minitool.com/news/enable-disable-automatic-driver-updates-windows-11.html
6.) I created a System Restore Point.
7.) I downloaded & installed the HP Driver Package for my EliteBook 860 G9 from here: (https://hpia.hpcloud.hp.com/downloads/driverpackcatalog/HP_Driverpack_Matrix_x64.html)
8.) Crossed my fingers and plugged in my Logitech C922 Camera....Success! No more Windows Audio Service issue.
9.) Next, I installed my Yeahlink WH67 USB headset (it caused the same issue as the camera before all of this). No issues reported and both my camera and headset worked fine.
10.) Last was putting all of this together and plugging everything into my docking station - hoping that wouldn't give me a problem now. Fortunately, no issues either.
After all of this, I've been running for 3 weeks with no issues and I have been pushing any Windows updates through. I'm now on W11 2H23. Maybe the driver has been fixed by HP/Realtek somewhere along the way, but not sure.
Hope this helps!
