Add "Battery Care Function" (battery charge limit to 80%) to the late 2019 HP Spectre x360 13t

The Battery Health Manager feature provides a number of options designed to improve battery longevity and performance for various usage scenarios. The options are:

• Maximize my battery duration
• Let HP manage my battery charging
• Maximize my battery health

There are three options available by selecting from a list. The options are:

1. Maximize my battery health setting:

   This setting maximizes battery health by lowering the maximum battery charge level to 80%.

   Select this option if the computer stays plugged in to the power adapter most of the time.

   When this setting is selected, the battery charges until the charge level reaches 80%, then it stops charging until the charge level falls to 75%. While in this range (between 75% and 80%), the battery notification window shows that the battery is not charging.

   

2. Let HP manage my battery charging setting:

   Charging behavior will automatically adjust to balance between maximizing battery health and maximizing battery duration.

   When the computer is operating under heavy load or being used in hot environments, charging may behave like the Maximize my battery health setting. Under cooler conditions, it will behave like the Maximize my battery duration setting.

3. Maximize my battery duration setting:

   The battery charges to 100%, then stops charging. Charging resumes when the charge level falls to 95%.

   Select this mode if you need to have the battery fully charged when taking the computer off the charger.

   NOTE: 

   Using this mode may shorten the battery lifespan.

Are you kidding me? Please read the comments before . I spent almost 2000 euros on this computer. We want a function that all other devices before had. "Battery Care". So that the battery only charges up to a maximum of 80%. omg

With all due respect, i think you either are making fun of us or not reading at all the content of this thread. we clearly know that the feature does exist but it is NOT supported by the x360 spectre series, still you post vague and useless information. As a HP support agent that you are, i expect you dig in a little bit before replying. That is why we keep asking for a implementation of the Battery Health Management Feature on our computers since as of today with the latest bios version (F.13-03/02/2020) , it is not offered. Again, im guessing youre going to ask for my product number, so here it is: 7ZC56UA#ABA. Im hoping you dont ask me to restore my computer or perform a hard reset on it to release any excessive static/power waiting  for this feature to magically show

You got it! Now we all understand what the functionality is that all the users want.

What is the pathway for getting HP to implement that functionality into all HP Spectre 13 inch late 2019 models? We don’t care if it’s called battery health manager or whether it’s called battery care, it’s erroneous. We need that feature set implemented in the BIOS as soon as possible. This thread has been going for months upon months and it has not been updated. Who do we have to contact to make this happen now that we all understand what must be done?

@Praveen196, I really don’t think you understand.

 This is not a case of a single user that needs to tell you some detailed information about his system configuration.

It is a missing feature in the current line of devices that has been there in the previous line of devices.

Please know that we want/need that feature in our devices.

You don’t need any more information about us or our system configuration.

You (HP) have all you need to know about it.

Just implement that feature to the bios of this line of devices.

Other than that I am very satisfied with my Spectre.

We all have declared the necessity of "Battery Care Function" and as mentioned before for pavilion cd0232 as well.

In my opinion it is a bug not to have "Battery Care" rather than a change request.

The response we got until now since almost a year are disappointingly.

I strongly suspect the HP-Instance answering is a bot / KI-Entity and so we receive only remarks an no solutions.

A little off-topic, but wanted to share that I bypassed the problem with the use of smart socket device. The device disconnects the power supply when the battery is at 80% so it's not being charged anymore. Next it switches on the power supply when the battery is at 70%. You can set different levels for instance 40-50%. I used cheap Sonoff Basic R3 with DIY mode and flashed it with Tasmoda and next wrote a powershell script which checks battery level and sends commands to Sonoff through local network. Took me 30 minutes and $7.

Very nice Zebrz, a great work around! Does this work in the usb-c/thunderbolt connection? Or just the mains supply to the charger? I run my laptop quite a bit off a thunderbolt dock that also charges it you see... None the less, would you be able to post more details somewhere including the Tasmodo flashing and powershell script? I'm pretty comfortable with a bit of DIY hardware on something like this, but less so with the software bit! PS: To see something similar but lower power USB-A for mobile phone chargers, look up Chargie.org. I've got one, works well.
