If you use a 2nd M.2 SSD for data storage, it may carry less load than a primary drive that runs Windows and apps and hence generate less heat. So, M.2 NVMe SSDs that come with manufacturer's heatsink may work fine.
For example, this Samsung 980 Pro with a heatsink has an impressively high customer rating. The product specs say the heatsink is 8.6 mm thick. if it is the same or less than the stock heatsink's thickness, this Samsung product may fit in your notebook.
