Yesterday I left my omen 16 ryzen 9 with 4070.

Same issue with the lid. Event manager for windows showed a change in energy policy due to lid event.

Had been happening for around a month until I related it to the hal sensor.

Will update here once I hear back from HP

Hello, my HP Omen gaming 16 laptop with AMD Rysen 9 / Geforce 4070  was repaired (motherboard change) recently following a complete blockage (black screen + keyboard). Today, less than 2 months later, the problem recurs: black screen, TV display via HDMI does not work.

Will HP finally recognize that this OMEN 2023 laptop series has a major defect and reimburse users?

Unfortunately hp doesn't care they probably want to keep changing your motherboard with the same faulty design thill user run out of warranty

hey hi! I have: https://lb-iscs-pro-emeastore1.hpcloud.hp.com/ca-en/shop/product.aspx?id=7x7b4ua&opt=abl&sel=ntb

model. this is an intel 2023 Omen 16 laptop, ports are at the side. I still have a 3 week return window for the laptop. I wanted to ask if this model would also face the hall sensor issue? Your inputs would help me decide to keep or return this model, thanks!

Hi Rishab5.

No, you're good. I've already talked about this here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Notebooks/Question-about-the-OMEN-Gaming-Laptop-16z-xf000/m-p/9... and you can also see this relevant Reddit discussion.

The problem is that most users that wanted the Intel version bought the 16-WF0000 Omens, since they have the powerful HX processors. On the other hand, the 16-XF/XD Omens have the same CPUs, so people just bought the cheaper XDs. This caused the original misunderstanding that AMD Omens don't have the issue. Most people have 16-XD AMD Omens, and I've yet to see a post (anywhere) about a black screen. We only started seeing posts about the AMD version when (for whatever reason) customers ended up with a 16-XF Omen.....

I had the same issue and was able to fix it after reading a Reddit post that recommends manually disabling (unplugging) the sleep when closing laptop screen function.

Yeah that was mine reddit post.

Kinda sucks that hp doesn't acknowledge this problem.

Atleast im happy that i have helped many users with this problem because when i had this problem at first there was literally nothing on the internet no help i needed to find everything out myself that was so frustrating

Oh i accidentally logged in with a different email but im the same person as the orignal poster.

I'm seeing lots of messages on Reddit suggesting that the AMD model is also affected, but only the XF models? Having just bought an XF with AMD and RTX4070 I'm now very worried I've made a mistake. How many does it affect and why have HP not acknowledged the issue, is it actually only a very small percentage of failues?
