Hi,
my 430 G5 Probook has a backlit keyboard key (F9), but the backlight is not working. My BIOS has no entry for the backlight in "Built-in Device Options" (such as shown here https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Backlight-Keyboard-Not-working...), so I cannot activate/access any options there. I tried several different BIOS versions, no improvement.
Keyboard drivers are up to date and Windows troubleshooter doesn't detect any problems.
Has anyone encountered the same problem, what helped?
Any tips are much appreciated!

430 G5 Probook may come with either backlit or non-backlit keyboard and they keys will be the same. Depends on which keyboard is installed.
The keyboard is fairly easy to remove and is considered a customer self-service item (see p. 44 of the Manual) and removing it would allow 100% identification of whether it is the backlit or non-backlit version. If a backlight is provided I believe you would tap fn and F9. Post back with any more questions.

Hi Huffer,
Thanks, that was helpful, but unfortunately didn't really solve the problem.
I checked the hardware: backlit keyboard HP-L01071-041 in place, cable connected. However, after making sure the BIOS is up to date and several reboots, still no BIOS entry or backlight (neither with F9 nor F5 nor F10 not fn+...)
I'll wait and see for future updates, maybe one day there will be light 🙂
