Test the battery using HP Support Assistant
Click the "show advanced information" link and the resulting output is what we need.

Unfortunately, one of his issues is that the notebook shuts off when he tries running diagnostics. That is why I wanted to see the battery report.
Take a read of the article I wrote. It may explain how we can see the relevant data better than I did earlier. There are images as well.

i don't remember if i told you this, but meanwhile i was trying different options to see if the situation improves i removed the internal battery and just used the computer with the charger. The laptop worked fine for hours without the battery. I tell you this in case you find it relevant to the case
