hi all,
I see in this community there are lot of topics on battery issues. I don't see one which is as bad as mine.
For some reason, but laptop doesn't hold a charge for longer than 2-3 minutes from 100%. It's only 3 years old and up until a few weeks ago, it was just fine. i turned on my laptop after a little while and suddenly, it cant hold a charge!
It's been happening since recently.
I have let it charge for over 24 hours, I have run the diagnostics and battery checks, I have ran the battery check (before windows launches) and all the results come back as 'OK'
I am not sure what is going on. Has anyone else had that issue?
I cannot find HP customer service details either to email them about this problem.

Average life of a laptop battery is around 3 years give or take 2 years. Happy to hear you had an Asus battery last 8 years, but that is very unusual. All laptop batteries are made by the same factories using the same cells and components. There is no statistical difference in the average lifespan of an HP battery versus any other manufacturer as the company who puts their name on the laptop does not make the battery. To find advanced results, see the instructions in the test itself. Find the logs as directed. Main Menu

Well, its 3 years old. Can we see the advanced results of the test? When a battery is 3 years old and will not hold much of a charge, 99% it needs replacement. This is true even when it scores a "Pass" on the simple test. There is next to nothing that can be done to "fix" a battery.

hi Huffer
thanks for the reply.
Firstly, it has not been a 'gradual' loss of charge, its suddenly not holding a charge. unless hp puts a timer in for the battery to just die after exactly three years, i am not sure if its because of age.
second, Are you saying that HP laptop batteries basically die after 3 years on average?? i had an asus for 8 years and only after that i had to replace the battery. for this laptop its not even a pop out battery!
Finally, can you direct me on how to get the advance report? i could only see the 2 i mentioned.
thanks again
