Hi ,
From past few weeks , my laptop has battery issues like shutting down at 30-40% charge range and battery life has become the worst . I have run the UEFI diagnostics and the details tell that full charge capacity has decreased from 41 Whr to 23 Whr and the remaining capacity is 18 WHr . As this is a clear sign of battery degradation , what are the next steps ?
Ps : the battery life before was 5 to 6hrs , now its barely 2 to 3hrs or even worse and i have been using this laptop for 4 years.

The test that is reported in the image tells me that the laptop battery is at a tipping point of its service life.
The battery is close to four years old.
That should be a red flag for you. Laptop lithium ion batteries are only warrantied for one year.
If you do not replace the battery with a new HP part numbered item reasonably soon, there will be more surprises to come.
Personally, I am not a fan of random shutdowns or corrupted BIOS, but that is what is on the horizon for your laptop.
I recommend that you go to the HP PartSurfer website and perform a search using the laptop's serial number. Find the battery in the list. Purchase a battery that has the HP part number and has the HP logo.
How to identify your laptop's serial number.
While logged into Windows, type system information in the search box and click on the system information icon that appears above. The serial number will be in the list that appears.
YOU can also use the HP Assistant. The serial number is also there.
