HP notebook 15-da1071ne
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP 15 da-1071ne that I bought september 2019. The battery was doing fine the whole time except once after the purchase it did drop from around 50% to 0%. I recharged it back then and everything went normally until 2 weeks ago. The problem happened about 7 times now in 2 weeks. I tried recalibrating by draining the battery completely and recharging like mentioned in a guide by HP. I did uninstall the ACPI battery driver and restarted, still no luck. HP battery check keeps saying that battery is ok, but the mesured capacity keeps fluctuating between 87%-70ish%.

I think that it is a software problem because with hybernation disabled, I ran the laptop for 2 hours with battery reporting 1%.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Community.

Product  Introduced April 2019

The battery may need to be replaced.

If you have not done so, you can run the hardware tests and poke at it with the Battery Report.

After you've exhausted other options, purchase and replace the battery.

I don't have extensive experience with batteries beyond the obvious.

For example, my opinion:

When the battery is this old (654 days) and the battery is not performing as expected - Replace the battery.

Honestly, I never argue with a battery that won't do what I want.

Life is short.

That said, perhaps your situation is different.

Stay safe.

Strangely, it seems that the problem is temperature related. Because It first begun when temperature dropped significally in my country. Now that the temperatures raised back again, I am not experiencing any issue.

Is it possible for temperature variations to cause inaccurate readings?

In summer it never happened.

Interesting.

Probably not strange at all, though I've not read up on the subject for you so I cannot do more than speculate.

Evidence does seem to indicate your environment is impacting the results.

The Specifications do not separate components except for the "write to disk" operation.

Input power

Operating voltage  19.0 V dc @ 4.74 A – 90 W or 18.5 V dc @ 3.5 A - 65 W or 45 W

Operating current 4.74 A or 3.5 A

Temperature

Operating (not writing to optical disc) 0°C to 35°C32°F to 95°F

Operating (writing to optical disc)        5°C to 35°C41°F to 95°F

Nonoperating                                            -20°C to 60°C-4°F to 140°F

I would guess the batteries also have little spec sheets, though if they do, I've not saved one to check.

Stay Safe.
