Battery must be removed and replaced.
Battery will fail - likely sooner rather than later.
Make sure your backups are kept current "just in case".

hello,
thank you very much for your reply.
However i found the original battery but it will be deilvered in 5-6 weeks. So i would like to ask you, for my laptop, can i remove and use the laptop without a battery or it is neccessary for it to work with it? i am asking that because the battery is inside the laptop like it is used to be in older laptops.
Thank you in advance.
with kind regards,
Panagiotis.

You are welcome.
I believe you can remove the battery and run the device on AC power. Most notebooks do not have a problem with this.
Doing so does leave the computer vulnerable to power outages, of course.
Keep your backups current - in fact, you should already be making backups to protect your data.
Stay safe.

hello,
thank you very much for your fast reply.
The only thing that keeps me thinking is that my batter (HP 917678-1B1, 917724-855) is connected inside the laptop, and i have to unscrew the laptop's cap to take it out, so i though there will be a reason for keeping the battery so secure inside. Will it be okay to use the laptop without it?
thank you in advance.
with kind regards,
Panagiotis

You are welcome.
The fact that the battery is located inside the computer case is not related to whether the computer will work without the battery.
Most notebooks / laptops will run just fine without the battery with the caveat that if anything happens to the AC power connection, the computer will immediate hard crash and stop. A crash / stop is normally not harmful to a healthy computer, but there are not any guarantees. On the other hand, people all over the world use Desktops and these don't have batteries. If you are nervous about your power, connect your computer to a battery backup unit that would run the computer long enough for you to complete a normal shutdown if the AC power in your house / office fails.
I do not know that YOUR computer will run without the battery - my experience says it will do so.
