Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

The battery capacity of my laptop was 2-3 hours. Next day suddenly it became less than 10 mins.

I became unable to start the laptop without it being plugged in, after that the "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" shows up if i started the pc plugged in with the battery inserted, if the battery was out it wouldn't appear.

The battery now always show 100% charge but works for less than 10 minutes then turns off.

Notice that all this happened suddenly and battery was working just fine the day before.

And take note that i take care of the battery, as i always take it out and use the cable, and empty and refill it once or twice a month to maintain it's capacity, and like that my i maintained  my last laptop's battery capacity for more than 5 years.

Did anyone encounter something similar to this??

thanks

I am not positive whether you are asking for help or starting a survey.  No malice intended - people do occasionally try to use our community for a public media platform to share "Hey, did you see this??"  or "Has this happened to anyone?" or "This is happening to everyone!"

Product Series introduced in 2014

It is likely time to replace the battery.

Battery is not working correctly and error 601 indicates the battery has failed.

There is usually "no return" from this error.

The part number and procedure to change out the battery are included in your computer's Service Guide:

Good news:

Easy replacement:  Purchase battery, disconnect old battery - click new battery into place.

Part Number:

745662-001

HP does not supply this part (not for sale at the HP Parts Store

.

You may use the part number to find and purchase a battery from your favorite, trusted local merchant in your region.

Battery does not charge when system is warm to hot

If the “not charging” issue is (only) apparent when the system is running hot (or near that point), the battery and charge system are likely overheated as well – the charge system will resume operation when the computer cools down.  Short Version:  An overheated battery / computer / charging-system will not charge the battery – this is normal behavior.

Battery seems “stuck” in a particular charge setting

The battery might be OK and just need calibration (balance / set).

The steps to check / calibrate / replace the battery are included in this document:
