Hi, a question in relation to replacing the motherboard fan after a fatal error (fan has stopped working). After I had replaced the fan, I turned it on and have a black screen, shows the wi-fi highlighted, and a blinking caps lock. I have tried a hardware reset, powered the laptop without the battery because I thought that maybe the bios battery needed charging? Does anyone have anything useful they could offer please?

Hey there! @hawker69, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand your PC boots into a black screen and light on caps lock is blinking repeatedly.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?
Have you tried checking with a different adapter?
How many times does the light on caps lock blink?
Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned the light on caps lock is blinking repeatedly.
Run a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components are working fine.
Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.
Also, try the steps recommended below.
To perform a hard reset on a computer with a removable battery, use the following steps:

Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press the Enter key.
After reconnecting each of the peripheral devices, run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

Ok, so after sending that Ive resolved this issue which was that I had not connected the ram chip properly. I have now encountered another issue. My hp g6 will start and still identifies that my machine had encountered a fan issue. I continue with normal start up as I replaced this previously. What I am encountering is that the screen goes black and then my web page will load back up. I am not confident that my fan is cooling the cpu the way it should, because it gets increibly hot, and you can not touch the dvm adapter which is directly under it.
The last time I had started my machine, it had shut down with the blue screen that told me it was collecting information and gave me a scan code box. I believe that prior to installing the fan, my cpu may have over heated and already caused damage? Could it be the bios battery? Does anyone know how to correct or even alter the fan speed? I hear the fan going but normally speeds up to control temp over heat? Any info would be helpful, with my thoughts being that it may need a new motherboard.
