Blinking orange power light when switched off and plugged in

Hi All

When my wife's Pavilion G6 is switched off and plugged in, the power light flashes orange. Last time it was switched on the battery was low and didn't seem to be charging. Is it actually charging ? or is there a problem with the charger / battery ?

My pavilion 15 just shows a steady orange light when charging and a white light when charged, so I am a bit confused as to what is going on with my wife's notebook.

I would do the HP battery check using HP "Support Assistant". You can type that in on the bottom left near the start menu. Blinking orange also reminds me to check your power settings. Type in power in the search bar on the start menu. Your sleep mode settings, It will ask you to set " When i close the lid power off, or sleep" those type of options. I was thinking if it was in sleep mode and charging at the same time might result in orange blinking light. I would strongly recommend performing the Hp battery check with Hp Support Assistant. If you cant find it, type in Google Hp support assistant battery check. Do this test and let me know about he power settings, by right clicking on the bottom right corner the battery charging icon or typing in power in the start menu search bar.

I will boot up the laptop now and try the assistant but just to let you know, it is not in sleep mode, it is shutdown. When the laptop is on and plugged in, the power light was blinking orange so i shut it down until everything was switched off. Then I connected the charger and the power light started blinking orange again

OK, I have installed the support assistant and ran the battery test, it says the battery is weak and could do with being replaced, so I will get a new battery and see how it goes..... Many thanks for your help !!
