HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 15-eb1043dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a spectre x360 Laptop, Windows 10 running on it. Today, when setting up my laptop in the office (sometimes I work from Home, so a usual occurance) I didn't understand why my logitech bluetooth connected mouse was not working. I tried to reconnect it but the Bluetooth from my computer was not working. I tried to look up a solution and learned that my wireless connection to the internet was not working on and no discoverable networks available. Almost like Airplane mode was enabled.

I tried to find a hard button on my computer, to see if it has a wifi off or airplane mode button. Nothing. I have now uninstalled my Wireless AX201 driver and the Intel Bluetooth Wireless driver and restarted my computer but still not working.  I have now factory reset my laptop in hopes that it would restore the drivers and whatever default settings were changed. Still nothing.

I have a wired connection now and the internet is now working but the Bluetooth is stating "On this Device, turn on Bluetooth" so not working.

Please help, very much appreciated.

Craig J

The wireless and bluetooth functions come from a dual purpose card which is integrated into the motherboard so not replaceable. Are you under warranty? Here is the Service manual:

There is no wifi card listed in the parts list and instructions do not show removing and replacing a wifi card. See p. 34 where it shows disconnecting the wifi antenna cables from what looks like a chip soldered to the motherboard.

Thanks for the reply Huffer,

Warranty, ran out in August of last year. I even purchased the HP Care Package to extend the warranty 3 years and a month ago had submitted paperwork to reimburse the cost since I had no accidents or maintenance needed. Is this something I could just replace the entire motherboard or more likely just buy a new laptop?

You could theoretically replace the motherboard but its expensive to do so. If you have to pay full price parts and labor it will be a large percentage of the cost of a new laptop.

You have a legacy USB-A port and you could get a USB wireless and bluetooth module, plug it in the USB port and restore full function to the laptop. The laptop is generally still pretty good and for a modest investment you could extend the life a few years.

Like this but there are others:
