Hi all. I know there have been numerous issues with the HP Envy line with broken hinges. I have the HP Envy x360 15t. Left hinge is broken. Screen is not cracked as of yet. I am just trying to figure out if it is just the top cover I need to purchase or if there is another part. The silver plastic piece on the front bezel to the left of the hinge is loose/broken as well. See pics. If you buy a new top cover, is that part of it, or do you have to purchase a whole new screen if that front lower bezel piece is broken? If so, can any assist with what parts to purchase?
HP rep: This is a question to others users in the community, not to HP itself. From the number of hinge issues, it is not something you all have addressed in any reasonable manner, and from what I have seen, charge a fortune to repair if no longer under warranty (which mine is not). No need for an HP rep to reply.

Pages 46-49 of the Manual here:
You have to check each place where screen hinges are screwed down and be sure the screw mounts are not cracked or pulling out. You have to replace the hinges regardless since the damage only comes when they are partially seized up. Damage will happen again if they are not replaced.
Good luck

You have caught it early, but in order to repair it any parts that are damaged have to be replaced. It must be disassembled to take a look at the hinges and the screen housing and the base assembly and evaluate if they are compromised. I need the full model number to get the right Manual to show you how to disassemble.

Thanks. Just to clarify, if that bottom front left bezel piece is broken, that is part of the screen assembly, correct? Meaning I would need a whole new screen as that is part of the screen itself? I was hoping the only piece I would have to replace would be just the top back cover, but if it is the whole screen with bezel, then cost wise it is probably just not worth it as it appears a whole new screen is quite costly.

No if the screen is not cracked it is OK. You need to focus on the big plastic pieces. The hinges generally bolt into the base assembly at the bottom and the back of the screen at the top. Look for brass inserts (screw mounts) The bezel and hinge covers may be OK just pushed out.

I have the same problem ;-( The piece that the receives the screws on the top back cover separated from the cover. I bought and replaced the hinge, then reglued the receiving bracket, but the screen/shell sprang apart again.
- I had trouble finding a good bonding glue, do you have any suggestions on that? Or should I try to buy a new back cover (shell) which I assume has the receiving bracket already attached?
-my model number is 15-aq1118ca, the manual you posted (a big thanks!) looks correct, is it?
I have bought numerous computers and printers from HP. However, the fact they don't stand behind the product for what is obviously a design flaw (and not user-caused) and their continued data collection practices of your activity (long after a machine is out of warranty) has made this my last HP product.

Glue will not work. The forces at work are just too strong. You are going to have to replace any big plastics with broken screw mounts. Not too many users actually do a repair like this because of the cost and work involved.
