Compaq 6720s
Microsoft Windows 11

Specifications:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5270 1.4GHz on 2 cores, 1.5/1.6 on Single core

Storage: SATA III 256GiB SSD
RAM: 2x2GiB DDR2

Graphics: GMAX3100 (Modded PGDHD Drivers)

Age: 18 Years old

OS: WIndows 11 Pro (Bypassed) 64bit

QUESTION:
I heard this computer's maximum ram is  4GiB, but i have a doubt, because when it was realeased, it mounted 32bit Vista or XP, which can only read up to 3,9GiB, but now i have a 64bit os. so, is it the chipset or the OS architecture limiting it to 4GiB???

Thanks

If your notebook has the Mobile Intel GME965 chipset, it should support 2 x 4 GB of DDR2-6400 memory that will run at 667 MHz.

If it has the Mobile Intel GME960 chipset, it will not.

Chapter 1 of the service manual has the memory upgrade information and it indicates the max is 2 x 2 GB.

I have the HP 6910p notebook running W11 Pro 23H2 64 bit (which is as far as it can go) with the Mobile Intel GME965 chipset and it runs 2 x 4 GB of DDR2 memory just fine even though the service manual indicates the max is only 2 x 2 GB.
