Good morning,
I would like to purchase an ssd with the goals of ....
Leaving the existing hard drive in place to be used as secondary disk storage. (My existing hard drive is a SATA 1TB 5400RPM hard drive.)
Transferring everything currently on the existing hard drive to the new ssd.
And then booting from the new ssd.
I don't know how I'm going to "do" the above yet, but I thought I would first start out by trying to learn .......
Will my existing ENVY notebook even allow me to add an ssd to it ?
How do I know what to buy and where to buy it ?
Does it makes sense to contact HP and ask them the above questions and then buy the ssd from them ?
I'm motivated to make this happen but so confused as to how to get started.
Help \ direction would be greatly appreciated.

It does not have port/slot for you to add internal storage. Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04763240
It has full 16GB of RAM and 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. One thing you can upgrade is to replace existing HDD with 2.5" SATA 3 SSD (1TB or 2TB) using Crucial MX/BX series, Samsung 850/860 EVO series or from other vendors.
One compatible example
