Can i upgrade my Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

I don't know if I have a whitelist bios or not and would like to upgrade my Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter. This is due it having a bad connection/Kicking other users of the internet when in a room that I would like to use it in. The problem is not in my router or it's signal as other devices work perfectly fine in that room - older and newer devices. can anyone help me out?

Your machine does not have whitelisy but it only has one antenna therefore upgrading to better wifi card you may need one more antenna. Please try

I will have to double check but I have had my laptop open before and pretty sure it has two antenna. Not sure though so will follow up if it has two

I can pretty much guarantee you that your notebook only has one antenna cable connected to the Realtek 8723BE wifi card.

Your notebook has a M.2 form factor wifi card, so the one that Banhien posted won't fit in your notebook.

Realtek has a dual band AC M.2 wifi card with bluetooth that should work with your model.

It only has one antenna terminal like the RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter has.

The only place I have been able to find them is on eBay...the card is on back order at the HP parts store.

yes, it seems that mine does have only one connected, therfore i wondered if it would be possible to mount another antenna in my case to give me a more up to date range of options

Hi:

If you are willing and able to completely disassemble the notebook including the display panel area to run the second antenna, and you order the antenna kit from your notebook's service manual, then you can install the supported Intel card listed in the service manual.

The Intel card link you posted absolutely will not work.  It is of the HMC form factor and if you look at that one compared to the form factor of the one in your notebook, you can see how different it looks.

The other thing you can do if you don't care about bluetooth is to install one of the supported Intel AC wif cards listed in the manual, and connect the one antenna to the Main antenna terminal on the intel card.

That way the dual band wifi will work, but you will not have bluetooth.

So basically any of these would work then but ones listed with ac in the name would not have bluetooth. Also I would not be willing to take it apart that much myself but do you think that a pc repair shop would fit a second antenna

Hi:

You would want the 3165 AC or the 3168 AC (the 3168 is a slightly newer card, but it will not work on W7 where the 3165 will).

Just a FYI in case you ever wanted to run W7 on your PC.

And yes, other forum members have installed those cards on notebook's with one antenna and reported it worked just fine but had no bluetooth.

I suppose a PC repair shop could run a second antenna so the bluetooth would work too, but you would probably be looking at a lot of money. 

Definitely get an estimate first.
