Hello,
I have a HP Elite x2 G4 and I am not able to stop the USB charging function. I disabled it in the BIOS but the option has no effect.. I also disabled fast boot and so on. The tablet is completely off when I shut it down but the USB charging still works..
I also updated to the latest available BIOS version today but that didn't have any effect.
Can you please help me?
Thank you and best regards.

Check in the BIOS for the USB sleep and charge function and disable it.
How about identifying your laptop properly with a Product Number(SKU)?

Hello Erico,
thank you for your answer and sorry for not providing the product number. The number would be 6FE44AV
As for your suggested solution: I already disabled the option under advanced -> port options -> USB Legacy Port Charging.
I don't find any other option. Is this the option that you mean and if not where do I find it?
The BIOS version is R91 Ver. 01.30.00
Thanks for your help.

That should do the trick.
If nothing is plugged into a USB port that supports sleep & charge there should be nothing using current from the battery, other than the real time clock and the BIOS, unless the laptop is still on or in a sleep state.
I not that your laptop is from the 2021 market year.
Have you used the Windows Battery Report utility in Windows to see how much your battery is capable of storing compared to when it was new from the factory?

Sorry for the late answer, butI didn't get any notification.
So if I understand your answer correct, that even if I disable the USB charging, the USB ports are still capable of charging when I plug something in when the port supports the sleep & charge?

No.
If the USB charging option is disabled, USB charging should be disabled.
Please humor me and let me know exactly why USB charging is a concern.

Thanks for the clarification.
My problem is that I can't leave anything plugged in once the tablet is turned off because it drains the battery. My work laptop from Dell with USB-C Ports doesn't have this behaviour. I also did a little more research here in the forum and the option you suggested seems only apply to USB-A ports. It seems to be a common issue with USB-C ports (also on other devices) which hasn't been addressed by HP yet.
Under the following links you can find similar problems for other devices. I only have USB-C ports on my tablet so I can't verify that the BIOS option works for USB-A ports but I had a Elite X2 1012 G2 tablet with an USB-A port and there the option worked.
