HP PAVILION 15-CS0003CA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm looking for a docking station for an HP Pavilion 15-CS0003CA laptop and was wondering if someone could give me some recommendations. I know the laptop has a USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge). It seems the docking stations I looked at need alternate mode in order to work but I'm not sure if they are referring to Display Port or what exactly that means.

Thanks

Just as a follow up on this, my confusion was coming from searches that I did that said the HP Pavilion 15-CS0003CA would not work with a USB-C port for a docking station. This didn't make sense to me based on the specifications for the laptop on the HP website. I tried calling HP support to confirm my specifications but they wouldn't answer my question unless I paid them for support. I found it somewhat funny that I would have to pay HP to tell me what they sold me.  Luckily I found this forum and this has been very helpful. In the end I borrowed someones dock to see if it would work  with my USB-C and it would not. I determined the HP specifications are wrong on the website and my USB-C port is a data only port.

I really appreciate your help with my question.

Thanks

Yours has DP alt mode which means the USB port puts out a native video signal which requires no translation.

I really appreciate your feedback. That makes a little more sense to me now. Do you know if it would work with the following docking station?

Yes. That is basically the same kind of dock and would work for you. Let us know if you have any other questions.
