I am looking to upgrade the memory from the single 4Gb SDRAM currently installed, I have checked both the user guide and maintenance manuals (this link is not for this model by the way) and can find no info if dual channel mode is available on this unit, Can you help?

Hi GHD2.

Your laptop's manual can be found at this link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06172090.pdf

HP14-ba094sa.jpg

According to the manual the maximum RAM one can use is 12GB, which is pretty weird. Dual-channel support is not mentioned either. You should read this interesting discussion about upgrading RAM on your model: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/memory-ram-upgrade-for/td-p/81... The maximum RAM issue (12GB just doesn't seem right) was discussed, with surprising results.

Concerning the dual-channel issue, all modern laptops support this if the RAM modules installed are equal in size. Your CPU has support for dual-channel mode, and I seriously doubt HP has some motherboard limitation on these machines, because that would include the 8th Gen Intels mentioned on the manual...... The only way to make sure of course is by actually doing the upgrade and running some monitoring software. Obviously you should not upgrade to the 6GB or 12GB mentioned in the manual.

Post back if you need more help.
