Hello, first of all sorry for my bad English.

I have this Elitebook 8540w that suddenly shows this problem: when I try to power it up, the screen remains black and all the leds on the switch cover are active. The wireless and the power led on the front are also active, while the disk and electric connection led are off. The fan is active too.

This is what I tried:

- Power on with only the battery or the cable

- Reset the bios removing the RTC battery

- Change the RAM

- Remove the internal Sata disk

- Remove the battery and the cable, hold down the power button for one minute, and then install the battery and power up

None of these actions had some effect. What I should do?

Thanks

hi

Please Count the number of blinks, and use the chart to identify the error condition.

Errata corrige: the leds of the switch cover start blinking if I touch them. They blink 5 times so it's a motherboard problem. I'll contact the HP Support, thank you.

I have the same issue. Sometimes the screen works, but most of the time its black. Attaching external monitor works 100%. I also installed Ubuntu and both external screen and laptop screen work 100%, so this looks like a problem with windows 10 graphics driver.

Any solution for this HP?
