I have identical problem.  840 G3, 2013 unltra slim dock and 2 external monitors (E231 and E232) both connected with display port

BIOS updated to 1.04

dock firmware updated to 2.28

All drivers updated

I am working with HP to resolve issue.  I will reply if I find a resolution.

Well guys I would have to say that the 2.30.000 firmware update DOES NOT work, I just got the black out display and was able to get a video of it and sent it over to HP support. Hopefully they can provide a fix. I'll update once we get a fix.

I tried this last night and so far so good, I will know for sure if this resolved it with the user over the next 24 hours.

Issue:
HP display doesn't wake up or screen goes black with DisplayPort connection.

The cause is DisplayPort detection issue on some graphics cards when monitor is connected to the computer via DisplayPort - DisplayPort cable.

Resolution:
Update chipset and graphics card drivers.
Then change on the monitor Source Detection or DP Hot-Plug Detection mode to Always Active, which depends on monitor model. The change is performed using monitor's OSD Menu.

● Source Control  -  Source Detection  -  select Always Active  -  Save and Return.

See details in this post.

● Input Control  -  DP Hot-Plug Detection  -  select Always Active  -  Save and Return.

If the above doesn't resolve the issue then:
Reset monitor to the factory defaults via the OSD menu.
Turn on the monitor and then press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
Then again set Source Detection or DP Hot-Plug Detection mode to Always Active.

My user has not had a problem with the screens turning black all day so I think changing the monitors to always active resolved this problem!

Well, this problem still exists.  It has happened 5 times today.  I'm not sure what to do now.

HP has updated the BIOS to 1.05 so I performed that update on the users computer yesterday and I'm happy to report no black screen issues as of yet.  I will keep you posted if anything else changes.

Try to see if the HP tech that you are working with can get you the 2.30 Firmware update for the docking station. I was told it will be available to the public but can not find it to be posted anywhere otherwise I would provide the link so the tech might be able to get it to you via HP FTP site.  For me when how to tell if the screen will go black is set a black desktop background, if you see little static flickers than the external displays will go black. After I applied the 2.30 firmware the static flickers went away. We have three G3 in production and when the firmware was applied the black out issue went away for my manager and collegue but I still had the issue. Granted on my computer I was doing so much testing and troubleshooting with my own machine so that might be the cause. Once I changed to connection cable from DVI to DP adapter to just staright DP cables the black outs stop happening. Hope I didn't jinx myself on that "knock on wood"

Can still not find this "new" firmware update on the HP site.
Do anyone have a link? Dropbox would work. 😉

We've also the issue with dual montior and the 2013 Ultraslimdock and a new Elitebook 850 G3.

Is there a solution for this Issue ?
WE've the BIOS and all other Firmware and drivers uptodate .

And the 2.30 for the Dock is free not available .

Regards Matthias 😉

The solution is the 2.30 firmware, which is still in beta.  Unfortunately, you will need to submit a support case to HP to get it, as it is not yet available to the general public.  We were provided the firmware update by HP Support, and it resolved the issue on all 7 of the machines we were having issues with.
