Well, if you're using a 64bit OS and you haven't got an amd64 folder with the required .sys and .dll files, we have found the problem.
Post the link you used to download the update.
The directory layout should be as follow:
amd64/
accelerometer.sys
hpdskflt.sys
HPMDPCoInst.dll x86/
accelerometer.sys
hpdskflt.sys
HPMDPCoInst.dll 139420.cab accelerometer.inf HP3DDG-Win10-6.0.21.1.cab hpqaccamd64.cat hpqaccx86.cat

@cgruchy11 and you haven't got the amd64 folder. Seems impossible.
Glad it worked Stenn.
I manually created the amd64 and x86 folders in the Downloads folder and moved the extracted files into each as appropriate. I disabled the signature thing and then updated the driver manually on device manager and voila! It worked. I confirmed the updated driver on device manager and Windows Update now shows the update installed successfully! Finally! Thanks for your instructions. I will go to your original post and click thumbs up.

Ran the tool you listed, it hid the update that was causing the error message. Spoke to an HP tech yesterday, he said I had the proper updated version of this driver, which is 6.0.19.1
Used the windows update troubleshoot tool you listed, it allowed me to hide just the one particular update we are having
trouble with.
Microsoft level 2 tech said she was aware of the tool and it was ok to use it. Hope the correct this problem. Strange how Microsoft lists this update but HP has not heard of it.
