Hello vamsigh. If your computer has an obvious hardware issue, you should contact HP to see what they can do, based on your warranty status. You can locate the correct number to contact HP based on your region, by utilizing this link: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
So after 3 years, I see that HP has not taken responsibility for this design flaw, nor have they offered any real solutions. I am very disappointed in HP. I will not be purchasing any products from HP in the future.

As many people in various forums have been suggesting and complaining on Pavilion DM4 has major issues with its desing. The overall idea of this laptop is good but the designing is so flawed and compromised. Have seen many people complaining on the hinges. Specially the left ( I dont know why but almost all of them have the same problem, only left hinge). Also its trackpad is also flawed..the left click and right click have the worst response. The Disk drive tray is flimsy..it doesnt come out when the eject button is pressed. Its difficult to fix the cd/dvd disk into the slot and start it. after 3 years of usage...i think this laptop is not well manufactured for a company which has so much history. You cannot be less carefull with this piece of HP.

I have 2 HP dm4 laptops and BOTH have been having hinge problems.
One led to broken screen a year ago, and the 2nd laptop's screen just cracked today.
I now have 2 perfectly good, high speed laptop and no screen.
All I can do is use them as desktop replacement attached to a monitor but can't carry them with me for work.

For what it's worth, I found this site after my daughter had the same problem with her DM41063. We purchased it for her from Costco around August 2010. The display went bad (vertical lines) in the second year. We got that fixed for free under the Costco 2nd-year warranty. Not long after the 2-year warranty expired, the left hinge failed and now the right hinge is going. It's a poor design. The hinges screw into a thin plastic frame in the display back cover that is not heavy enough to carry the load imposed at the hinge anchor points by opening and closing the display. Eventually the plastic frame fractures at the hinge anchor points. I considered just junking the PC after 40 months, but I decided instead to order a replacement back cover and replace it myself. I'm hoping to get another couple of years out of the PC before the replacement part (or something else) fails. It's a calculated risk; hopefully it will work out and I don't end up throwing good money after bad.
HP, if you read these posts, you need to design stronger hinge attachments into your laptops.
