Hello I'm using this laptop: HP ENVY x360 Convertible 13m-bd0xxx
One day a white layer came on top of my camera (there is something white blocking my camera physically on my laptop). This prevents my camera from showing anything, the camera is STILL found by the system (it is not the keyboard button that blocks the camera, it is something white that's physically blocking it). There is no practical way to remove the white blocker physically. Toggling the camera off/on through my keyboard's built in camera blocker button doesn't do anything. This white blocker never showed up previously when I blocked the camera through my keyboard.
Thank You.

Hi @Aliasger1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the camera on your HP ENVY laptop is being physically blocked, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Check for any physical obstructions: Inspect your laptop's camera area carefully to ensure there are no objects blocking the camera lens. Sometimes, stickers, dust, or other debris may inadvertently cover the camera, making it appear blocked.
- Adjust camera privacy settings: HP ENVY laptops often have a privacy feature that allows you to disable the camera using software. Check your laptop's settings and make sure the camera privacy setting is turned off. Look for a physical switch or a software toggle that enables or disables the camera.
- Update the camera driver: Outdated or incompatible camera drivers can cause issues. Visit the HP Support website (support.hp.com) and search for the driver downloads section specific to your laptop model. Look for the camera driver and download the latest version. Install it on your laptop and restart the system.
- Check for conflicting applications: Certain applications may block access to the camera, especially those related to video conferencing or virtual meetings. Ensure that no other software is actively using the camera. Close any such applications or processes from the task manager and try accessing the camera again.
- Perform a system restart: Sometimes, a simple system restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Restart your laptop and check if the camera starts working properly afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
