HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0802no
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, my HP ENVY x360 Laptop (ay0802) stopped recognizing the fingerprint scanner after Windows 11 update, in preinstalled W10 it worked fine.

I have updated from HP support center all available W11 drivers, including Synaptics fingerprint scanner SP123522 but to no avail: Windows Hello Fingerprint Recognition just claims that We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint...

How to get it working again?

Thanks in advance!

Lee

Hello @LSaari

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

(1) Access BIOS Setup Utility using a series of key presses during the boot process.

  • Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  • Turn on the computer, and then immediately press the esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  • Press F10 to open the BIOS Setup Utility.

BIOS > Security: Check option [x] Fingerprint Reset on Reboot

( Text may differ slightly with different bios versions )

BIOS - Security - FingerprintBIOS - Security - Fingerprint

(2) Save BIOS settings and exit.

(3) Test if fingerprint <reset> was successful

Hi Ub6424, thank you for the suggestion!

I enabled the sensor reset but unfortunately there was no impact.  Hello still gives the same message. (I also shut down couple of times just to be sure..)

And yes I have installed from HP support center among others also the latest BIOS update.

So good ideas are further on very welcome.

Hello Ub6424, thank you for your persistence.

I followed the instructions and system asked to re-setup Hello after login, but unfortunately Hello's message remains unchanged, no compatible fingerprint scanner recognized.
