Windows issues or Malwares can cause the computer to overheat that is why Windows Reinstallation fixed the issue in the previous post
If ever the issue persists after performing all the steps including Re installation, then you need to contact HP Support for Service Options
Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ and select your Country to get the Contact details for HP Support

KrazyToad, the laptop I experienced the problem on was used only few weeks.
Blaming Windows & malware is out of question.
I did not reinstall anything.
The issue is not repeating.
I don't know why this happened and niether do you, but your own forum is full of simialr cases.
So please find someone who can seriously address this issue.
Can't you contact you own (HP) engeneers ???

If the issue reoccurs, then you will need to send it to the Service Center for proper diagnostic and repair if needed. It's not possible to diagnose the issue remotely since it's intermittent
Thank you

I have the same issue, but not every time, occasionally.
It's not seems to be a hardware problem, I think it is caused by some low level hardware, which is waking up the processor without turning on the cooler.
Moreover I have another HP laptop -- Probook G4, and there is the same issue, but it based on different platform -- Intel instead of AMD.
And again -- this seems to be happening only when sleep is caused by closing the lid, if I send it to sleep by button -- it does not happen. For probook in my scenarios it's not a problem, it mainly used as desktop alternative, but for Envy it's unacceptable, as it's a lightweight small convertible, and if it overheats in backpack? My back is in fire?

Dear @Riddle_Decipher, it would be appreciated if you bring both of our issues, @SergSh's & mine to the same team because they are practically the same. And dozen of the others too, all registered on this same community portal.
Can't you "open a case" for all of us ?
I'd prefer not to sit and wait for the issue to occur again just to "take it to the service".
And what would I tell them ?
It will cool down by the time get there....
This could be a serious issue with HP products. A fire hazard issue.

Serious. I spend $2000 on a higher end laptop to be told to turn off all the visual settings... this is NOT a good solution. I have a HP Envy X360 15-DS00036. Please let me know if there is a real solution to this overheating issue. My laptop goes to sleep. When I come back it is hot and non-responsive to any attempt to awake it. I need to hold the power button for 20 seconds to hard reset and then it boots up again. Why HP?

I first posted here a couple of weeks ago with the same overheating issue that everyone else is reporting. I ended up reinstalling Windows and it seemed to cure the sleep issue, but yesterday I got a prompt you update the AMD Radeon software. I installed it yesterday and now the overheating is back.
Do I have to reinstall Windows again, or is HP actually going to admit this is an issue and put out a fix?

I think I may have solved my issue with my HP Envy not waking from sleep. Since the problem started again when I updated the Radeon software, I decided to uninstall and then reinstall the graphics drivers. Now the computer wakes from sleep as it is supposed to, and no longer overheats while sleeping.
I did a bit more searching online and found several other people who cured their sleeping issues by reinstalling the graphics drivers, on both Intel and AMD machines.
Hope this helps.
