HP ENVY 17t-j100
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello all,

This is my first post to an HP forum and I wanted to address an issue that I am having that seems to be a common one. The left hinge on my HP ENVY 17 laptop is broken and causes the the casing to come apart when opening. I continued to use the laptop with the problem as the casing could be held in place when opening and closing to prevent serious damage. However, small peices of plastic from either the hinge assembly or casing have broken off and caused the cooling fan to malfunction and displays an error message on startup. I am having some difficulties contacing whatever HP customer service to try to get this fixed.

@brian241

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
