HP ENVY Laptop - 13-ba0902nz
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a problem with my display. Every time I open it the right hinge sticks out, the same as in the article below and every time I close the device I need to manually adjust the hinge so the device is properly closed.

My model is HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13z-ay000 CTO.  Warranty expired in December 2021 and my hinge just broke from normal use.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand your HP notebook hinge is separating from the unit, in order to fix this issue your computer needs to be repaired.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.  I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the out warranty service options in order to diagnose the computer physically.  HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: https://www.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Yes I have a 17" Envy and love it, but the left-side hinge near the power button broke a while ago.  This has been a problem with HP computers for a good while now, and HP has done nothing to fix it.  There is now a class-action lawsuit filed about their laptop hinges.

Over time the hinge-crunching completely gave way, and now a gap has opened that cannot be closed without pressing on components.  I took it to a repair shop and they knew right away that this is a very common problem with HPs, but the hinge cannot be fixed, because there is no firm surface to put screws into, just cheap brittle plastic in the hinge area. So you are stuck.

It is too bad, because the computer is great otherwise, and their support is much better than Dells.  Because of this single issue, which has never been fixed or taken seriously by HP it seems, I will not buy anything from HP again until it is remedied.  It speaks to a bad attitude toward their consumers. Nor will I buy from Dell, as problems that require tech support seem built in, and their support it is nasty and rapacious. There are other fish in the sea, as people are finding out by necessity.  Good luck!
