HP contacted me. The solution was absolutely unacceptable, a slap in the face.
You want to charge me an outrageous amount of money and were rude about it. You denied knowledge of any hinge issues even though they are in your own forums and throughout the internet.
You didn't even know about your forced hinge recall of 2009 and failure to correct the issue.
I am beyond upset at your unacceptable attempt to take advantage of me to make more money because I bought your faulty computer.
I am looking into resolving my issue through other channels since HP refuses to help me.
Bottom line:
I was an idiot and thought HP was a reputable brand. I will NEVER buy ANYTHING HP again. There is an entire community of people like me and it's growing fast with every faulty computer you sell.

I just got a call from HP. The gentleman on the phone tried to act as if he was doing me a courtesy by calling me to tell me that they no longer make laptops with faulty hinges and that my laptop purchased in October of 2014 was not made with fulty hinges. He therefore said he can not help me and that they can not do anything about it. He was partonizing and rude. I was also rude back as I mirror the actions of the people I am dealing with. I will not stand for someone patronizing me. I did not build this laptop so therefore HP is the ony one to blame. Whe I explained what was wrong with my laptop, he asked me to post pictures. I said I alrady did. He said I am a grown man and I don't do what people tell me to do. I said you owe me $1600 worth of respect and listening to me be unhapy with my situation due to HP's lack of quality control. He then proceeded to ask me what "I " did to the computer to make this happen to it. That is when I got irritated. To blame a customer for their lack of being able to build a quality computer and stand behind it. This is pitiful. There was a recall in 2008/2009 and he pretended not to know about but by te end of th econversation he said the recall was a long time ago and has nothing to do with this computer. So why are my hinges broken? I can assure you that HP could care less if any of us do business with them again. It doesn't matter to them. They can just laugh at us and move on. We do not matter and the wil not do anything for us. I asked him why he even called me to insult me like this. He was patronizing and insulting. and implied my broken hinges were my fault. This is the menatlity of HP. [content removed] Good luck. Don't sit around and let the big rich comglomerants push you around. fight for yoru rights and do something about it and stop being a victim. I may not get a new laptop of get this one fixed, but I can assure you I will do my darndest to see that they stop making faulty computers. It was so insulting how he acted like he didn't know what was going on. I could not believe it. I had to laugh at how stupid he thought I was. He acted like he knew nothing about this forum and our complaints. He played dumb and that is just what he was.

I took my computer to repair shop and they noticed on right hinge, plastic mounting for hinge that is welded to motherboard has 2 screw posts that are broken. I discovered by researching online that this is a known HP issue - during manufacturing of this laptop, the hinge mounts are glued on and are plastic and therefore known to crack/break. I feel that HP should take care of this issue even though my laptop is no longer under warranty.
