I have the same issue. I've taken meticulous care of this laptop, haven't dropped it once. Unfolded it from tablet mode only to have found the hinge broken, the laptop unable to be closed. I really need it for university. Can I have some help?

Hi, I bought my HP Envy X360 9 months ago and noticed this week that the right sided hing has started to break and that it is causing the screen to detach. Seems like it is very poorly designed if within a year the laptop is already falling apart.
Please help!

Same thing just happened to me but it happened all at once. The hinge went out and I went to close my laptop and the screen portion caught the bottom and cracked the screen. All because of these faulty hinges…

I'm having the same issue and being refused a repair even when I took out the extended warranty.
Looking at this thread it seems like it should be a known issue, but your telephone advisors & their supervisors are stating that it isn't and it would be a paid repair, which makes me wonder what the point of the extended warranty is.

Yep, this just happened to me yesterday. I opened my laptop up to begin my Monday at work and the right hinge gave out with an awful *CRRRIIICCCK* noise. Now my screen is separated from the lid. Thankfully it did not shatter or compromise the LCD panel. I am holding it together with a padded metal clip to apply pressure to the back lid and support the screen from flexing too much.
Of course I am one month out of the 1-year warranty period... Wish I had purchased an extended warranty at this stage.

Apparently even having the extended warranty will not help. I have called THREE times to have them ship me a box to send my laptop away and have not received said boxes. I am continuously re-routed back and forth over the phone to the same two departments. I am now over a week without my laptop as a university student. This is absolutely unacceptable.

The exact problem just happened to me. I was opening my laptop for the first time this morning and the right hinge cracked and a small screw flew out. The screen is not damaged but it's really annoying how this broke especially since I got it just over a year ago, which means my warranty is gone. This is frustrating especially since I'm in school so I need my laptop at all times. Is there any way the warranty can be extended or HP can assist with the repair process?

I'm extremely shocked and disappointed today as I had the same experience with my new hp X360 envy laptop, The right side hinge has begun to open up and does not allow me to close or open the laptop any further. It makes a very painful cracking noise when I attempt to close the lid. Surprisingly this happened exactly 1 month after the warranty period has expired. Seeing all the messages in this thread I think this is very common with this laptop. I do not know what has to be done at this stage as I bought this laptop only a year ago and I have always handled it in the best possible manner. Being a university student I used it very minimally for study and research purposes and this is the condition of this laptop. It is very depressing and disappointing seeing the quality of HP laptops come to this state.
