Envy m6-k022dx
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I have a HP Envy m6-k022dx - p/n E0L06UA#ABA s/n [Personal Information Removed]

When I charge it up and press the power button:

The power light comes on, the wifi light is orange

And Nothing else works - No Fan - NO HD spin - blank screen.

Num Lock and Caps do not light up.

I took the back off and did not see any loose connectors, I disconnected the Battery, removed RAM and even the wifi card.

Put the battery connector back on and same thing.

(FWIIW: This is a Laptop with an internal battery)

Would a bad fan cause this?

(If not, my swag is -the motherboard is toast )

Hello @W8WCA,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I came across your post about the black screen issue, and wanted to help!

Usually black screen issues can be related to the Hard Drive, and Memory Modules.  However, it is possible to see black screen issues in the result of overheating, which can be related to fan issues.  First, please review the following document, and let me know how it goes:

None of that helps:

For one thing nothing at all except power led, wifi led and the little led at the power connector work.

NOTHING - No Display No Fan No HDD Spinning

So when I try the hard reset - no way of telling if anything happens.

Oh - I also disconnected the battery for 5 minutes - it's an internal battery (never seen that b4)!

I did try an ext. monitor (well hdtv as only out is hdmi)

Nothing there.

I took ram out and hd out still nothing - the HD is OK I used a sata to usb adapter to check it on another computer.

I do not know if the fan is good - I cannot really think of a way to check it.

the CPU does get warm when it is in this state if I leave it on for a minute or so.

But I turn if off quickly so the cpu does not toast

W8WCA Were you able to figure out the problem?

I have the exact same issue with my hp j054ca. Power LED, wifi LED are on but nothing on the screen.
