Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

The hinge on my 12 month old $1000 laptop just failed and popped out the bottom of my screen. It looks like the plastic around the hinge just disintegrated from the metal screws/hinge in hinge assembly. 

 

Looks like this is a known failure of design (see the many links below full of pages and pages of people reporting the exact same issue) - and HP is trying to charge 1/3rd of the price of the laptop to fix it. I need this laptop for work and it is unusable in this state. Quite frankly - this is unacceptable, and I would like to know what HP is going to do to make it right.

This is simply BS.  I have the same issue as well, only 1 month out of warranty too.
