That's good to hear so it's seems to definitely be you RAM modules. I will make sure to write down the model information when I take my computer apart and let you know what it says. (Yes I do regret not getting the GT 130M)
The Samsung DDR2-800 are the exact same ones the came installed in mine too. I was thinking about selling mine do you know off hand any other place besides ebay that I can sell them to? Did you sell your if yes where?
This information is most helpful I will definitely take your advice and now that it's been posted others can benefit as well.
I'll give you an update when my CPU arrives to let you know how things went if push comes to shove and you're forced to buy new RAM try the company I mentioned early they are very reliable and I've done business with them three times already without one problem.
BIG THANKS for all your help man you should be HP's Tech Support Operator, I've learned so much from you please keep in touch and let me know if you solve your RAM problem. Talk with you soon.

Well, I just realised that I put the memory up for sale on eBay but no one ever bought them, so now I DO have memory I can stick in there while I wait for them to replace it. I'm hoping I just got messed up RAM and the replacements work fine.
I am a programmer by trade but have done my fair share of technical support. The problem with HP's technical support isn't that most of their technicians are dumb, because many of them are capable. The problem has more to do with some of their escalation procedures and their policies. Although everyone makes mistakes, so it's possible to get techs that won't figure out your problem.

Quick update,
The CPU arrived yesterday I'll change it this weekend when I have more time.
Here's what I found on my RAM modules:
DDR2-800 4GB So-DIMM 512M x 72.2R
S51264PC2640062Rx8
The other sticker on the back reads:
G2-4GB-SO-512X8DDR28OO
4 GB 800 CL6 SODIMM
date code: 0932

Hey, thanks for posting that information. I'll be contacting the manufacturer today to find out what's going on with the replacement. Tracking information says they got it Monday. Let me know how the processor upgrade goes.

i found out that you can use intel X9100 CPU on the HDX 16 Laptop this is a web site that people that try the processor before http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=356499

OK, if they say they've gotten it to run then it probably runs. The reason I didn't put it on the list before was because I wasn't sure if the motherboard would support the higher wattage or voltage, and I didn't want people coming back threatening me for telling them something would work that didn't. I'll give you several reasons why I wouldn't go with that processor:
- Speed: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php Check out these specs. The passmark rating for the x9100 is only 158 points better than the P9700 which uses 28W and it would actually be slower than the T9900 (by 32 points).
- Price: I don't know how much the X9100 is going for but it's list price is over $800. The T9900 which is a faster proc and uses less power is cheaper.
- Power use: This is the biggest reason why I wouldn't buy this CPU. It uses 44W which is near double the P9700. In other words, this processor will suck your battery faster than 100 starving ticks on a dog. If you absolutely must get the fastest processor then the T9900. I got the P9700 because it's only marginally slower but uses way less juice.

Hi all...
i have an hdx16 with a p8400 and want to upgrade to t9900 or t9800...
My HDX16 (P8400 2.26 Duo - 8 GB Ram @800 - Gforce 9600M GT - 500GB @7200)
Do you think the hdx16 will one day support quadcore ?????
cause if it's the case i prefer wait... cause 300$ to have 800hz in plus it's really expensive... even when we see the price of quadcore... it's almost the same :s
For those who have upgraded from P8400, do see a big difference ???
GRAPHICALLY do you see some difference ???
Please let me know
thanks a lot !

I hate to be the one to give you bad news but HP hasn't listed any upgrades to the BIOS in quite a while so I doubt they will ever offer Quad Core support for the 16T. I would stick with the list in post #2 on page 1. My personal opinion is that the P9700 is the best processor to run because it is the second fastest and it runs a way lower wattage than any of the other processors giving you the highest battery rating.

Hello,
Thanks for the answe...
effectively i made some research and my choice will be the P9700...
But from the (P8400 - 2.26 - 3 Mo - 25W) To the P9700
is there a real power gain ?
Is there 3D power gain ?
Thanks
