Go to:

Check is there on the list synaptics TouchPad or ClickPad. If yes then right click it and choose ' Properties '. Please inform me what is the current status of the device in the ' General ' tab. Next select the ' Driver ' tab, and inform me what is the current driver version.

In device manager, it only lists the mice I have hooked up to the computer. The touchpad is no longer listed.

Use solution from the link below:

Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows

When you will do this check the device manager again.

I did it. I'm afraid it's still not showing up in Device Manager.

I had similar problen with pavilion dm1 4010us...I am an exclusive mouse user.  .In the beginning keyboard would stick intermitently.  About once in 5 days.  It became progessively worse.  Finally it would occur after about 5 minutes.  I contacted HP.  I am under warranty.  Drivers and Bios were updated. After completion of downloads. No problem until I logged off/restarted...keyboard froze and again after restarting a second time.  This occured withing an hour of my service call.  I called back.  New tech rep was going to have me do some corrections in DOS.  Could not type instructions in DOS.  Keyboard frozen....I was told to return laptop for service and a new keyboard.  I was in another country and would not be returning to US until Oct 2012.  Tech rep said I was out of luck...blah, blah, blah.  Suggested I call HP service center in country I was located.  Before I did that and I still have no called;  I did the following;

DISABLE THE KEYPAD WHILE USING MOUSE.  (TWO TAPS UPPER LEFT CORNER OF PAD)  I HAVE NOT HAD ANY FROZEN KEYBOARDS SINCE.

Same problem with mine. HP should check performance for all machines (they is case when few are faulty) before they sell in market. We are consumers and should not do their trouble shooting at our time. Very dissapointed.
