@TrapperEd,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

I would be happy to assist.

For that, I need the exact Slimline model you have -such as an HP Slimline Desktop 290-a0035z, HP Pavilion Slimline 400-000 or HP Pavilion Slimline 400-034, etc.

Kind Regards,

@TrapperEd,

Thank you for the additional info.

Here are a number of User "HP Slim Desktop S01-PF1XXX" performance benchmarks, fitted with various graphics cards I think you may find useful: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-Slim-Desktop-S01-pF1xxx/200192.

However, I still need more information to be able to assist you better.

To that end, please type in: system information in your Windows search bar, then left click on the System information App.

You should see something like this:

The information I need is the "System SKU" and the "BaseBoard Product".

@TrapperEd,

All right, this is what I came up with after some research and digging.

Your HP Slim Desktop - S01-pF1048xt (3UR16AA), according to: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=3ur16AA, is fitted with a 180-watt power supply (HP p/n: L81733-800 "Power Supply - GNRC PSU 180W ENT20 SFF Gold") and a BakerMS (SSID: 8768) motherboard (HP p/n: L90451-601 "SPS-MB BakerMS HP 280 G5 SFF WIN").

In order for any meaningful graphics card to work in your desktop -which, btw, looks to me like a so-called "Small Form Factor" (SFF) model, you need to upgrade your power supply, and your graphics card will have to be a so-called "low profile" model.

Starting with the power supply upgrade, I would recommend this 400-watt power supply with HP p/n: L69242-800, which will allow you to install/power a number of very good graphics cards.

Any Baker motherboard (SSID: 8767) power supply is compatible with your BakerMS motherboard (SSID: 8768):

You can purchase a 400-watt HP L69242-800 power supply online, such as these purchase options: L69242-800 400W Power Supply For HP 86 Pro G2,Pro 288 G4 G5 MT - 365PowerSupply.com - Replacement La... (on sale right now [02/13/23] for $79!), or New Original Internal PSU Power Supply HP Envy TE01 Pavilion TG01TP01 L69242-800 | eBay.

Here are some low-profile graphics card suggestions from lower performing (cheaper) to higher performing (more expensive):

XFX Speedster SWFT105 Radeon RX 6400 4GB GDDR6

MSI GeForce GTX 1650 Low-Profile 4GB GDDR5

Nvidia RTX A2000 6GB GDDR6

However, if you just want to stick with your 180-watt power supply, you could install something like this:

Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 Low Profile 2GB GDDR5

ASUS GeForce GT 730 Low Profile 2GB GDDR5

All these graphics cards can be found on Amazon, and on eBay (used).

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
