HP Pavilion - 15t-cs0000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop was dropped and it is impossible to see anything on the screen. BestBuy says they have no option in their system to replace the screen on this model. Is it there another company that can repair it? Is it possible for me to repair it myself? I know the computer still works as I was using an external screen. Now, however, I want to use it as a laptop.  thanks

@Andy_H1  Updated with more information.

You can repair it yourself if you have to confidence, tools and patience.

You will need a jewelers screwdriver set and plastic spudging tools to avoid marring or scratching the case.

I suggest using a small container to put all of the tiny screws in until needed for reassembly.

You can find the correct screen assembly by use of the HP Partsurfer. Click on the blue button and select serial number. Use your serial number as the keyword and press the magnifying glass icon.

Make certain that the number of pins for the new display ribbon cables match the number of those on your current display. Ensure that the part number for the display assembly matches precisely the one that is listed in the PartSurfer. If you do not do that, your upgrade is pretty much dead in the water as you have a display that will not fit or even work with your laptop.

Thanks, Erico. I will endeavor to fix it myself over the coming weeks.

Great!

That is something I did for years for fun and then as a business.

Erico, 2 questions:

1) Is there a way to tell exactly which LCD Panel I need from the panel itself?  HP's system no longer has a description or part number of the LCD panel I have.  I have narrowed it to one of two Touchscreen (TS) options, but I would be guessing from here.

2) It appears that the parts I need are not available in the HP parts store. The parts are labelled as "Part is not orderable in the HP Parts Store."  Do you have another good place to get them, or is this where careful searching of the internet and ebay, is my only choice?

Again. Many thanks. I've put together custom desktops for years, but Proprietary laptops like HPs are a more of a challenge.

If you use the HP PartSurfer and the laptop serial number as the search term, the result should show the exact display assembly your laptop has.

Use the HP part number to search online and find a vendor who has the display assembly for sale.

as an example: HP+ the part number

"Again. Many thanks. I've put together custom desktops for years, but Proprietary laptops like HPs are a more of a challenge."  Yes, they are.  Especially when ordering a display assembly.
