I recently got a Pavillion Aero 13.
It supports charging over USB-C (PowerDelivery) seemingly fine when in suspend.
But when I am using the computer, the charging over USB-C keeps on stopping and starting (both indicator LED and icon on windows taskbar). I've tried with more than one charger, and I get the same results, and they work fine with other laptops.
Is there a way to make it charge correctly while actually using the laptop, or is it a hardware issue? If it's a hardware issue, is it a problem across all Aero 13 laptops?
thanks

Actually, the only power adapter (you call it a charger) you should be using is the one that was delivered with the Pavilion Aero 13.
At what percentage is this happening?
Does the battery fully charge to 100%?

Pretty sure it charges to 100% fine when in suspend over usb-c.
It had PowerDelivery on the spec sheet and reviews mention USB-C charging as a feature... and given it works at all, HP must have intended it to be a working feature.
For me, it was a key reason to buy as it's super useful given so many laptops use it, and I have multiple chargers / power adapters, and some are very compact. So there's always a spare somewhere.

Hey,
I've been having the same issues here. It also impacts gaming performance - it seems like when I use a usb-c charger, every 10 or so seconds game performance will drastically decrease for a few seconds (e.g. going from 70fps to about 20). I've tried updating all my device drivers and updating to the latest bios, but the problem still persists. Have you had any luck with this?

Without knowing your model number and the brand and model number usb-c charger you are using it's hard to tell.
There are many many usb-c chargers out there in a variety of voltages and watts. I'm going to have to go with Erico on this. Use the power adapter that came with the laptop. Especially if you have a discrete gpu and want to play modern games.

My laptop is HP Pavilion Aero Laptop 13-be0xxx / 50A31EA
Chargers I have tried include:
- MINIX 66W Turbo 3-Port GaN Wall Charger (Power Delivery 3.0)
- I think a Anker multi port USB charger (4x USB-A, 1x USB-C, power delivery, ~60-65W)
Both charge laptops successfully e.g. my 15" Lenovo T580. I've probably got a Lenovo USB-C charger around too, again around 65W.
For reference, the barrel connector charger is rated 65W.

According to the manual for you notebook, a 65 Watt USB Type- C Power adapter will power and charge the notebook from any of the three USB Type-C ports.
I suggest checking to make sure that you have the most recent BIOS.

Same here. the charging light goes off at random after every 10 or so seconds.
I have also tried 2 different 65W chargers, with different USB-C cables.
Seems like a common problem for Pavillion Aero 13 laptops.

This article seems to explain what's going on. Seems to be something to do with the battery charging cycle, and might be why our aero 13 laptops seem to stop and start charging intermittently...
