Yes, the point for me is that I own 3x 5TB drives with large volumes of data. I would also like to be able to manage the data on them with this laptop (I have a 54mm Express card with 3x USB 3.0 inserted and the card with other drives works, so it would be a shame not to use it).
I saw that some Paragon GPT Loader supports this, but it's a paid SW and I don't even know what their offers are. I would not like to pay anything extra unnecessarily.
I also encountered a problem with the screen resolution, the image is stretched horizontally and there were only two resolutions to choose from (I had the graphics drivers installed)

Sure, it doesn't matter at all. I am very happy for what you have done for me so far. I am very grateful for that. These are already details, it will be fine-tuned somehow. I will search deeper on the internet.

Would you know which driver to use for the IR remote controller in win XP? The remote controller did not work here and it does not work for me either on my dv6700 - model dv6899 with win 10. I have another dv6700 with win 7, on one of these two dv6700 the remote controller worked 100 percent.

Hi:
For the infrared driver, that is automatically installed by Windows update.
From what I recall on the newer builds of W10 the driver no longer works.
I went into the BIOS and disabled the infrared controller since I have no need for it and the device manager was cleared of the missing driver.
For W8.1 and below, I have zipped up and attached the 64 bit and 32-bit driver that should work so that you have them for the future.
You have to manually install it from the device in the device manager, update driver>browse to the unzipped driver folder> etc. I have explained this process to you earlier.
You can try it on W10, but I don't think it will work anymore like I wrote above.

Then I don't know what the problem is because there should be an infrared device that needs a driver.
If your device manager shows all devices installed, something else is wrong.
There should be an infrared controllers device manager category with the SMSC fast infrared device there.

Something is going to go really wrong. Now I tried it on a dv1000 in win XP (by the way, I already installed the slipstreamed version with SATA AHCI drivers) and there is also no SMSC fast infrared device category in the device manager. So I tried to install the drivers and select the category and these drivers immediately after the restart, when the newly recognized HW wizard runs. Then this category pops up in the device manager, but the installation is still unsuccessful. If it's not better to connect to the Internet and let the SW search automatically. I don't know at all. But I'm afraid to even connect the computer to the Internet, because of viruses, XP will be very vulnerable. Of course, I don't necessarily need an IR remote, but it might come in handy at some point. Well, I'll leave it at that for now.
Edit:
I have just installed all the downloaded drivers from the link you sent me earlier (HP support) and the only driver that is not installed is the USB - Universal Serial Bus Controller, so I don't know where to find it either.

It may be possible that infrared remote was not an option in the dv1000.
I'm looking at the illustration on page 1-6 of the service manual and the IR sensor would be on the front edge of the notebook and there is no description for one of those on page 1-7.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
Normally, if there is no device manager category for a device, then that device does not exist in that PC.

Edit:
Sorry for the confusion. You were right of course. When I now look back at the two laptops from which I put this one together, the IR receiver is on the board of the other non-functional one, which I threw away. So the remote control can't work for me here, because the IR receiver very probably isn't here really. 😄 My mistake.
So in short, I messed up. I have a lot here and sometimes I get a little lost in it.
Previous statement (my reply) : But in that laptop, when I received it, the remote control was inserted and when I took it apart, the sensor was on the board in front, like a black cube with a wheel.
I must be doing something wrong.
I have just installed all the downloaded drivers from the link you sent me earlier (HP support) and the only driver that is not installed is the USB - Universal Serial Bus Controller, so I don't know where to find it either.
